In a Jauary 25 Facebook post shown below, the aquarium announced the young patients will have access to a telepresence robot. The robot was provided through a gift from Aflac.

According to the aquarium, patients will be able to explore the aquarium from the hospital during free time, long stays, and during treatments. The patients will have full control of the robot through an in-room tablet, allowing them full access to the aquarium's exhibits. They will also be able to interact with aquarium staff and fellow visitors.

The program was piloted at MUSC Shaw Jenkins Children's Hospital, according to the aquarium. It is expanding to work with Prisma Health Children's Hospitals in the Midlands and Upstate South Carolina, USA.
