Japan Post visits OhmniLabs! Japan Post is a government-owned holding company that runs a postal service and a “watch over” service where postal employees would check up on elderly people and report back to their families about their well-being.
In 2015, Japan Post partnered with Apple and IBM, where a Japan Post worker will show up at an elderly people’s home with an iPad loaded with “quality of life” apps to assist them in various tasks such as scheduling medical appointments, hiring home maintenance professionals, volunteering, and coordinating travel. “After piloting iPads and apps custom developed for the elderly, Japan Post Group will expand the service in stages with the objective of including 4 million to 5 million customers in Japan by 2020, ” according to Apple News.
Japan Post visited our Silicon Valley office to explore innovations, especially in the ageing and senior care areas. Today, key members of their executive management team spent time at our OhmniLabs office to explore possible ways in which they can augment their current offering to ensure the well-being of the elderly community in an interactive manner. We are extremely honoured that they decided to spend quality time with our team on their Silicon Valley innovation tour!
